OPSU soccer already building community relations

Oklahoma Panhandle State University’s new Head Women’s Soccer Coach, Mike Rosso, is already hard at work building a culture for OPSU soccer.

Rosso just finished up the first OPSU soccer camp, hosting many young aspiring athletes from the Panhandle Region.

Guymon High School Women’s Soccer Head Coach, Michelle Davis, had many girls from her team attend the camp.

“My players have walked away with some great soccer knowledge and how to play at a higher level,” said Davis. “Coach Rosso has gone above and beyond to be a part of my program and with the Guymon soccer community.”

Community engagement was a major factor in the decision to bring both women’s and men’s soccer to OPSU.

“Our coaches believe that community involvement is key not just to the success of soccer but to the entire panhandle,” said OPSU President, Dr. Tim Faltyn. “The university should reflect the community it represents and we’re so proud of our coaches for leading everyone in the community to love this game.”
